URGENT RECALL: 1.7 Million Air Conditioners Could Be Making You Sick—Check Yours Now

If you own a Midea U or U+ Window Air Conditioner, stop what you’re doing and check the model number. Over 1.7 million units in the U.S. and nearly 46,000 in Canada are being recalled immediately due to a serious mold risk that could pose a health hazard.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the design of these popular U-shaped AC units can trap water, making them a prime breeding ground for mold. This mold can release spores into the air, triggering respiratory infections, coughing, allergic reactions, and other health issues.

So far, at least 152 reports of mold have been submitted, with 17 consumers reporting illness, and this number is expected to grow.
