Plant both feet under you, not tucked under the seat

Feet tucked far under the chair steal your base. Bring both feet flat under you, about hip-width, so you can push through the floor instead of rocking onto your toes or twisting sideways. Stable feet make the legs do more of the work and the back do less of a yank. You need fewer stands that start with crossed ankles and a prayer.
