The Quaker Oats Company’s recall of Pearl Milling Company’s pancake and waffle mix has now been classified as a Class 1 recall by the FDA- the most severe level, indicating a “reasonable probability” of serious health consequences or death if consumed.
Initially issued on January 15, the recall affects select two-pound boxes of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix due to an undeclared milk allergen, which a retail partner first flagged. Those with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity face a life-threatening risk if they consume the product. If you have an affected box, do not eat it!
The recalled product was distributed in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah, and Wisconsin and bears UPC code 30000 65040 with a best-by date of 9/13/25.
While no allergic reactions have been reported, the FDA’s update underscores the deadly risk.
