A man has been charged with two counts of murder following a violent attack at a pro-Israel rally in Boulder, Colorado, on Sunday afternoon. The event, titled Run For Their Lives, was organized to raise awareness for Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
According to the FBI, the attacker reportedly shouted “Free Palestine!” before launching incendiary devices at participants, including what investigators described as a “makeshift flamethrower” and Molotov cocktails. The bureau is treating the incident as a “targeted terror attack.”
The assault took place around 2 p.m. near the Pearl Street Mall and left eight people injured, ranging in age from 52 to 88. Among the wounded is a Holocaust survivor, according to Rabbi Israel Wilhelm, director of the Chabad at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Authorities have not confirmed any fatalities, despite murder charges being filed. The suspect, identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, was taken into custody at the scene. Officials say Soliman is an Egyptian national who entered the U.S. on a visa that expired two years ago but was subsequently granted work authorization through March 2025.
The incident has sparked outrage and heightened security concerns within both Jewish and activist communities. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation and have not ruled out further charges.
Federal and local officials are urging calm while condemning the violence, with the FBI emphasizing the seriousness of politically or ideologically motivated attacks on peaceful assemblies.
