Breakfast: Your First Shot at a Healthy, Energized Day

When you think of eating breakfast, what comes to mind? For most people, they think, “If I only had the time…” or “I’m not hungry in the morning!” Yet breakfast is what fuels your body for the day and helps to jumpstart clean energy each morning. Find out how you can eat a balanced, delicious breakfast each morning in little time so your day is filled with lasting energy and focus.

Breakfast: Your First Shot at a Healthy, Energized Day
Studies show that individuals who eat breakfast are more likely to maintain a healthy weight. When you’re healthy and taking care of your body, your energy levels will naturally increase. And let’s face it: you need energy to have a productive, joyful day. When you have more energy, life is better. You enjoy it more and you feel confident in your ability to get everything done.

Skipping breakfast is not a good idea. The simple fix is to find a quick and easy option for the mornings as you train your body to be hungry when you first get up. But before we find a healthy option for you, remember that “healthy” is the key word. Eating fast food breakfasts are just as energy-draining and unhealthy as skipping breakfast can be. Focus on a balanced, delicious option for your first meal of the day. As long as you plan ahead, you won’t be tempted to get a drive-through breakfast.

The key to a balanced breakfast is eating something with both a protein and carbohydrate. Protein options include eggs, lean meat, beans, raw nuts and almond or coconut milk. Consuming protein in the morning will help slow digestion so you’re fuller longer and satisfied until your next meal. Carbohydrates include whole grains, vegetables and fruits, which will give you energy and improve digestion so you’re feeling healthier and lighter. Try choosing something that fits your schedule and lifestyle.

If you have more time, try making a healthy breakfast burrito or omelet. If you’re pressed for time, you may want to grab cereal with fruit and raw nuts or a protein shake. Plan your meal in advance so you give yourself enough time in the morning to eat. As little as three minutes each morning could make the difference in having lots of energy and a clear, focused mind.

Give yourself the energy advantage tomorrow morning and create a balanced breakfast before getting started for the day. You deserve to look and feel your best and it all starts with your first meal of the day.
