President Donald Trump’s call for stronger action to restore law and order in the nation’s capital is being met with firm support from Republican-led states. West Virginia, South Carolina, and Ohio announced this weekend that they are deploying hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., reinforcing the president’s federal crackdown on rising crime, homelessness, and disorder in the Democrat-run city.

West Virginia is sending between 300 and 400 troops, South Carolina is deploying 200, and Ohio is sending 150 military police. These reinforcements add to the 800 members of the D.C. National Guard already activated under Trump’s executive order. The combined force underscores the president’s commitment to protect the nation’s capital and ensure federal workers and visitors can walk the streets without fear.

Governor Patrick Morrisey of West Virginia said his state is “proud to stand with President Trump in his effort to restore pride and beauty to our nation’s capital.” South Carolina’s Governor Henry McMaster echoed that sentiment, calling the mission an important show of support for law enforcement and national security. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine likewise affirmed his backing, sending troops to provide added security patrols.

While left-wing activists organized protests in Washington, holding signs against the president’s actions, Trump and his supporters see the intervention as necessary. The president declared a state of emergency in the city, citing the local government’s failure to keep order and its resistance to federal immigration enforcement.

With federal agents and National Guard troops working together, Trump is sending a clear message: America’s capital will not be surrendered to lawlessness. Instead, it will be secured, cleaned up, and restored to the shining example of strength and pride that it ought to be.
