Burger Chain Agrees with RFK Jr. Seed Oil Critique, Returns to Using Tallow Oil

Steak ‘n Shake, the fast-food chain, revealed on Thursday that by the end of February 2025, it will be frying its shoestring fries in 100% beef tallow. The company stated that this change is aimed at achieving the highest quality and best taste, ensuring that customers receive the best fries possible. The switch from vegetable oil to beef tallow was teased on the company’s X account, where they posted a poll asking about the change and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The use of seed oils in cooking has become controversial in recent years, with some, like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., advocating for a return to beef tallow. Kennedy linked the rise in obesity rates to the shift from beef tallow to seed oils in fast-food restaurants in the 1990s.

Forecast models differ on the location, type and amount of wintry precipitation along the Gulf Coast next week. Almost every element of the forecast is uncertain and won’t be settled until the exact track of the storm is locked into by forecast models over the weekend.

LA Fire Fallout: Burned Tesla Batteries Leave Toxic Debris

Cleanup efforts, funded by $100 million from FEMA, are hindered by lithium batteries from electric vehicles and home-battery systems, which introduce toxic materials and prolong burning. Residents in some areas were allowed to return home, but others face a longer wait due to necessary inspections. Cleanup will be a significant undertaking due to the prevalence of electric vehicles and energy storage systems, and the state is taking responsibility for debris removal. Rebuilding will be lengthy, and concerns remain about environmental pollution from toxins.

‘Milk, Couple of Beers’ Save Homes from Wildfire Destruction
An Orange County Fire Authority Chief saved two homes from the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area using milk and a couple of beers. Brian Fennessy initially told his brother and friends in his hometown not to worry about the Eaton fire that sparked in Altadena on Tuesday. Despite multiple homes being engulfed in flames, his brother’s home and a neighbor’s were still standing. Fennessy cleared fuels close to the buildings and discovered that the gas meter on the neighbor’s property was melting. He found a hose but no water and forced his way into the home in search of something to cool off the meter. The only things in the refrigerator were milk and a couple of beers, which he used to cool down the meter. According to ABC, Fennessy’s resourcefulness was all it took, and the two homes are the only ones left standing on that block.

Senate Republicans Reject House GOP Proposals to Raise Corporate Taxes

Senate Republicans are strongly opposing House conservatives’ proposals to raise corporate taxes to fund President-elect Trump’s tax package. They argue that increasing corporate taxes could hinder economic growth, lead to foreign takeovers of U.S. companies, and result in job losses. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) firmly stated his opposition to raising the corporate tax rate, emphasizing the goal of maintaining competitiveness on the world stage when it was lowered to 21 percent. While some conservatives, like Rep. Chip Roy (Texas), have suggested raising the corporate tax rate slightly to offset the cost of the budget reconciliation package and avoid adding to the deficit, Senate Republicans remain unconvinced.
