Emergency Recall: Popular Canned Beans Pulled from Shelves in 23 States

If you’ve recently bought canned beans, stop and check your labels—a major recall is underway affecting 23 U.S. states. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has issued an urgent warning over 15-ounce cans of Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans, which may contain undeclared soy, a potentially life-threatening allergen.

These beans have a best-by date of February 17, 2028 and were distributed through Walmart, Meijer, Hy-Vee, Associated Wholesale Grocers, and KVAT Food Stores in the following states:

Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.

The undeclared soy poses a serious health risk, especially for those with soy allergies. Ingesting even a small amount can trigger severe reactions, including anaphylactic shock. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, hives, nausea, vomiting, swelling, dizziness, or throat tightness. If you or someone else experiences these symptoms, call 911 immediately.

Consumers are urged to check their cupboards and return any affected cans for a full refund. Do not consume the product.
