A Miracle Amid the Flames: Lone Survivor Walks Away from Air India Tragedy

In a moment that defies all logic and expectation, one man walked away from the wreckage of the Air India crash that claimed at least 240 lives—bruised, bloodied, and very much alive.

His name is Vishwashkumar Ramesh, and his survival is being hailed as nothing short of miraculous. Moments after takeoff from Ahmedabad, the plane reportedly began to descend and then split in two, hurling Ramesh from the aircraft just before a deafening explosion tore through the fuselage.

Local medics say he was found wandering near the wreckage, disoriented and severely injured. Dr. Dhaval Gameti, who treated him at Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital, confirmed that despite multiple injuries, Ramesh is now out of danger.

Staggering video footage captured Ramesh walking—on his own—away from the devastation as stunned bystanders rushed to help. “When I got up, there were bodies all around me,” Ramesh later told Hindustan Times. “I was scared. I stood up and ran.”

Clutching his boarding pass, Ramesh called relatives in Leicester to say he had survived. “He only said that he’s fine,” said cousin Ajay Valgi, “but we’re still upset about the other brother.”

In a heart-wrenching call captured live, Nayan Kumar Ramesh, his brother, told Sky News: “He video-called my dad as he crashed. He said, ‘I don’t know how I’m alive… I don’t see any other passengers.”

No one knows how Ramesh managed to survive the impossible. Thrown clear of the fire, surrounded by death—and yet, able to stand, to run, and to speak.

In a tragedy marked by heartbreak, his survival is a beacon of impossible hope—a moment where God said, not yet.
